Sick

November 5, 2004

So I left work not feeling too hot today. Hopefully I can kick this bug to the curb in a day or so.

Up Your Arsenal

November 4, 2004

I can guarantee you that I didn’t forget about the new Ratchet and Clank game but I have been far too busy with a sick family to run over and pick it up. Rest assured that I will go get it just as soon as I can break free for a bit. The anticipation I have to play that game is overshadowed by my eagerness to kill some elites in Halo 2, but I am still very excited.

I just spoke to Pretzel and they just got finished demoing the DS and he digs it a lot. He had very good things to say about Metroid Prime: Hunters and Pictochat. After lunch they are heading over to play Metroid Prime 2. Lucky dog.

I just wanted to mention of few of the people that make running Snackbar Games much easier. The first people I want to thank are the guys at NumbThumb Games. Without them I wouldn’t get to play half the games that I do since I would never be willing to purchase some of these games. They are an online game rental service just like GameFly only they are based in Austin so anyone in Texas will get much better turnaround time on games instead of going with a company on the east or west coast.

I have to thank EB Huebner who has been instrumental in our success. Our humble beginnings were passing out flyers there and we have blossomed into a pretty massive community. Thanks Wraith and crew.

Not many of you remember his help, but Tito who writes Wrath of Tito was a long time Snackbar reader and also wrote a few things for us. He helped us gain a lot of exposure by linking to us in his weekly wrestling column.

I really want to thank Nintendo for continually hooking us up with stuff. That has really been a big help and should help to build the Gamecube and GBA portions of our review section.

We also have our constant banners being rotated on the forums as well as on the main pages of the site. The newest game we are doing ads for is Otogi 2. If you didn’t catch the first Otogi then I suggest you go find a copy. It was a really fun game and man was it impressive looking. I haven’t gotten to sit down with Otogi 2 yet, but I will very soon.

Of course we also have Paladin who hooks us up with hosting. Thanks guys.

Pretzel

November 3, 2004

As we speak, Pretzel should be in the air on his way to Seattle. You see, Nintendo is holding a small media event up at HQ and we were one of the small media outlets invited. Our friends over at eToychest were also invited. I was unable to get off work for this event and with Dots and my son sick with some stomatch bug, Pretz stepped up and went on our behalf.

Pretz gets to have an entire day with the DS, which is released in just about 3 weeks, as well as games like Metroid Prime 2. This afternoon he gets to go on a tour of the HQ as well as hit up the Nintendo company store. What a lucky dog. At any rate, we will have coverage of the event just as soon as he gets back on Friday.

Halo 2 Contest Update

November 3, 2004

We have had an outstanding turnout for the Halo 2 contest, but I want to point something out real quick. When the rules say that there is a limit of 1 entry per person, I mean it. We have one individual that has decided to enter themselves 18 times and I think that is kind of crappy. While people that submit a 2nd entry will still remain in the drawing, this person exhibited a blatant disregard for the rules and is now ineligible for this contest and possible any future contest we hold just because he pissed me off so much.

If you happen to know who you are and have a valid explanation for why you entered 18 times then you know how to email me and if you can convince me that it was in fact an accident and you aren’t a greedy punk then maybe I will have compassion on you and leave a single entry in the drawing for you.
