April 2005

EA is at it again as they announced yesterday that they had signed a 6 year exlusivity deal with the Collegiate Licensing Company. NCAA Football 2006 will be the first game released under the newly signed contract.

I still don’t like the implications of no competition in our industry. I think it is a big mistake for the gamers. We are going to get screwed on pricing in the near future.

A post on the Ghost Recon website goes into the details why the team decided to cancel GR2’s PC release. It is an interesting move to say the least.
This decision was not an easy one. We did not want to disappoint the loyal Ghost Recon fans, but we did not want to risk releasing a final product that did not meet their high expectations. With the launch of Ghost Recon 3 planned for Winter 2005, significant human resources were needed to ensure the quality of the future instalment of the series, thus potentially jeopardizing the quality of either Ghost Recon 2 PC or Ghost Recon 3. Taking into account their close release dates, and the fact that we felt the third opus would be a much more satisfying and evolved gaming experience, we were forced to conclude that it was in the interest of gamers for us to cancel the PC version of Ghost Recon 2. But Ghost Recon 3 on PC will hit shelves the fourth quarter of 2005, so the wait won’t be long, and will definitely be worth it.
Xbox 2 on MTV

April 11, 2005

The buzz began early this morning when everyone got word that Microsoft was going to unveil the next version of the Xbox on MTV. The reactions have been all over the map but one thing is for sure and that is that it is going to be a huge event. You can bet that most avid and hardcore gamers are going to keep up with your console on their own and while it is nice to unveil things at E3 you limit the exposure of your product to a finite group of die hards. A tv event on a channel as mainstream as MTV is going to get mainstream gamers talking about Xbox Next (2/360/Xeon) and hopefully be the push that Microsoft needs to build a larger market share in the next generation.

You can read the full details on the event in the Press Release

Weekend Gaming

April 8, 2005

Aside from the awesomeness that is Lego Star Wars and SC: Chaos Theory what is everyone else playing? I think I am going to continue on with some NBA Ballers and maybe play a little X-Men Legends.

NBA Ballers

April 8, 2005

I took an unintentional short break from gaming due to lots of stuff going on around the house, but I took time last night to play some NBA Ballers. I don’t typically like sports games but I am going back and giving some of the good basketball games a try since it is hands down my favorite sport to watch. I had some fun with it. Maybe this weekend I can get down with the Spies and the Mercs.
