Everyone have a happy and safe 4th of July weekend. I have some gaming to get in and some cleaning to do. See you blokes on Tuesday.

Gamespot is reporting that the PS3 will NOT be shipping with a built in HD. They are expecting it to be an available accessory (Duh. If Sony hopes to have this device be more than the gaming console like they keep saying, it must have a HD) in the neighborhood of 80GB. The downside is that 80GB HDs of the 2.5″ laptop variety sell for approximately $180 US. Shell out $400+ for a console and another $150+ for the HD? I don’t think so.

We got a new shipment of games in from Nintendo this week and I have been trying out all the new stuff, but I have to ask… why the gimmicks? Everyone agrees that the DS is cool, but it the poster child for gimmicky systems. Now we have gimmicky games showing up on the GBA. Don’t get me wrong, some of them have excellent execution, but some of them don’t. I am not particularly enjoying WW Twisted. More on that later, hopefully the review can go online today.
Is Nintendo focusing too much on gimmicks and not enough on the solid 1st part titles they are best known for?
