100 Inch LCD Panel

March 9, 2006

This isn’t related to gaming totally, but the fact that it is a 100″ LCD Panel makes it relevant enough to post.
Along with a response time below 5ms, the 100-inch LCD offers 6.22 million-pixels, a maximum 3000:1 contrast ratio, a 180-degree viewing angle, full HD grade picture quality and can reproduce 1.07 billion colors.
X360 Transfer Kit

March 9, 2006

TeamXbox has an update on exactly what that Xbox 360 Transfer Kit we mentioned a week or so ago does.
Datel’s Transfer Kit for Xbox 360 allows you to transfer data from your Xbox 360 memory cards to your PC. By using your PC’s storage capacity to hold almost unlimited back-up ‘images’ of your Xbox 360 memory cards, you can archive and restore them at any time – you need never be short of save space again.
Today’s gag post on Somethingawful is a send up of the horrible narcissistic otaku reviews that have become so popular as of late (classic example here). Personally, I hate that claptrap, and think it’s about time someone spent some time making fun of it. I don’t usually read game reviews to find out how much knowledge of Jpop somebody has accumulated. Remember, some areas of Somethingawful aren’t exactly safe for work, but then again you wouldn’t be reading funny parodies of otaku reviews at work anyways, right?

Article at Somethingawful here.

Here is a wonderful translation of a Japanese article on Shadow of the Colossus. Although the unique gameplay has gotten most of the attention, there’s a lot of really nice graphics technology there. Even if you aren’t a fan of the game, you should read the article to see just how developers are producing great effects out of the tail end of the current generation.

Neat stuff on HDR, shadowing, fur textures, blurs and all kinds of visual effects.
