Like many other people I’ve been spending a lot of free time with LEGO Star Wars 2 and visually it looks great. Prior to getting the game I was aware of rampant reports that LucasArts pushed the game out despite known bugs and at first I dismissed those rumors as mere hogwash. Now I am sitting back wondering if this game is going to get any type of update via Live to actually make it playable.
In the last week, no less than 5 or 6 times I have had the game simply lock up in various random places. The first thought might be that it is my 360, but throwing in another game allows me to keep on playing the system.
I am aware of a 1.01 patch for the PC version of the game and that is great news for PC folks, but what about everyone else? How many of you have run into very frustrating bugs and freezes? I’d love to hear what platform you have it for and what your experience has been with this title.
In my opinion, LucasArts had a chance to make this into a huge blockbuster but I have a problem recommending a game to everyone that is this buggy. It makes me rethink my previous position on LEGO Batman. Are they going to rush it out the door to coincide with a movie release too?
Though denied in the past, it has been confirmed that Oblivion will be coming to the PS3 and PSP. The PS3 version will have 10-20 more gameplay hours, a new faction (Knights of the Nine), and other fun stuff. It is most likely a launch title as well.
Nothing is really known about the PSP version, though it will be hard to imagine the content and beautiful visuals on a handheld… we shall wait and see.
There are three new pictures from the PS3 version of the game (complete with 1up watermark):

$199 is the pricetag that Microsoft has set for the HD-DVD drive. That is pretty much in line with what everyone was expecting and of course people are now saying that the 360 Premium + HD-DVD is equal to the price of the PS3 which throws price out the window as an advantage for Microsoft. These same people are also forgetting that one is a required cost and the other is an add-on. I personlly think it’s a good value to have the choice, but can see why Sony would include the BR drive. There are trade-offs to both path. Let’s see which way works out the best.
Red Octane just announced that the 360 would also be getting the sequel to it’s insanely popular Rock ‘n Roll game. I am personally thrilled and can’t wait to be rocking out in the living room.
The X06 is proving to be very exciting. Recently, quite alot of small bits of information have surfaced.
The next Splinter Cell, currently entitled Conviction, the fith game in the franchise will be exclusive to the 360 (for consoles, but it is coming to the PC as well).
Banjo Kazooie 3 will be coming to the 360, full of old and new characters and plenty of humor.
Project Gothan Racing 4 will be coming next year.
Lost Oddessey has been confirmed for a release in North America and Europe. No specific date yet.
Exclusive downloadable content for the 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV, in the form of two “epic” episodes. These will be avaliable sometime after launch.
Personally, not only do my fingers hurt from typing, I am speechless of the amazing games Microsoft is able to present to us. Congratualtions. More to come later!
