I got my copy of Lost Planet yesterday and got to spend a brief time playing before retiring for the night. My first impressions are positive, but I really didn’t get far enough into the meat of the game to develop a real opinion of how the combat system works. The one thing that stands out to me is that your character, Wayne, seems a little slooow. I don’t yet know how well that will work in a heated firefight. I guess I’ll find out tonight.
Visually the final code is stunning and I am really excited to put some more time into it this weekend. How many of you are picking up Lost Planet today?
In case it wasn’t already painfully clear, we have put our podcast on an indefinite hiatus at this point. The amount of resources it was taking for Pretzel to record and produce the show was getting to be too much for a single volunteer to handle.
This is not to say that the podcast will never return, but for now it’s just not possible to keep it going. I know some of you out there loved listening to it and I am deeply sorry that it had to end. In the end, it was the best thing for it.
The rumors are true; Apple, the folks behind the computers with no video games and iPods, will be bringing out an iPhone. The iPhone will feature a revolutionary mobile phone, a touch screen iPod (4 or 8 GB), and internet communication. It’s quite interesting how techonology is advancing. iPods within phones? Sounds like a good deal to me. You can learn more about the iPhone on Apple’s website or this video on YouTube.
Editor’s Note: This is totally not gaming news, but still cool.
Microsoft denies that a new Xbox 360 is coming. Chris Satchell, head of game development said to Gamespot that there won’t be a new Xbox 360… for a while. He said, that if customers will demand such an “update” than they will certainly consider it.
Editor’s Note: This goes in line with the whole “we don’t comment on rumors” type of response. If they admit it or not, I’m sure something is in the pipe.
More than one visit to SBG and you are bound to notice that we don’t flood you with irrelevant “news” and every bit of garbage that hits the web. We try to filter through the crap and only deliver relevant and interesting things, of which we do still miss sometimes. That being said, despite CES 2007 being underway and a few things trickling out there isn’t much going on in the way of news or even new releases. I figured I’d take the opportunity to find out what games you are really geeked up for in the next month or so.
Lost Planet comes out on Friday and that is the big one on my radar right now. I can’t wait to give the retail release some attention. What’s on the top of your list right now?
