When I first heard that Uncharted was coming to the Vita, I felt trepidation over how it would turn out. When I heard it was going to have touch and tilt controls, I decided that there was no way it would be able to compare to the console titles.

The Vita’s an exciting piece of tech, but any launch system has holes in its launch lineup. Here are six suggestions for which downloadable PSP titles to enjoy, especially if you didn’t have that system and just now have the chance to play them.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
Trails in the Sky was our PSP Game of 2011 for a reason. It’s that rare gem that hearkens back to the heyday of JRPGs and still manages to feel fresh and modern. It has a great roster of characters and manages to tell a pretty good tale without many of the usual overused plot devices. If that’s not enough for you, the art style should make the transition to the Vita screen extremely well. The Dynasty Warriors series certainly has its share of detractors at this point, but all that iteration means developer Omega Force knows a lot about slashing packs of dudes. You know what you’re getting here: Chinese warriors with cool, big weapons, wiping though hordes of enemies and taking out opposing officers. Though the series has taken some turns in the past that were questionable, with the Vita launch, the Dynasty Warriors Next team took it back to what worked and made that as good as it could. One of the first downloadable titles available for the PlayStation Vita, Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack is a 2D puzzle platformer and a follow-up to last year’s Tales From Space: About a Blob. This title focuses on a lot of the same basic gameplay found in that original title, but it also utilizes some of the Vita’s features in an engaging way. READ MORE
