This week, we have big new game announcements and release date revelations for games in some well-regarded franchises.

TOP STORY: Elder Scrolls Online coming in 2013

Elder Scrolls has been rumored to be the subject of Zenimax Online’s MMO-in-progress for years, though nothing concrete had ever been released, until this week. Elder Scrolls Online has been in secret development since 2007, and is scheduled for a release in 2013. While nothing about the gameplay or story specifics have been revealed, we do know that it will take place during the time when the daedric prince, Molag Bal, is attempting to destroy the world, about 1,000 years before Skyrim‘s events. It will also cover the entirety of Tamriel, including Cyrodiil, Skyrim and Morrowind, the previous provinces we’ve seen.

Wizards of the Coast (a subsidiary of Hasbro since 1999) is best known for their collectible card game phenomenon Magic: the Gathering, now approaching its 20th anniversary, but they are also the current publishers of the nearly 40-year-old Dungeons & Dragons RPG (since WotC purchased TSR in 1997). In the past, they have branched off into more traditional board games, previously under their Avalon Hill brand name (such as RoboRally, Vegas Showdown and others), although that brand has been essentially retired for some time now. Trials HD is one of the best-selling Xbox Live Arcade games of all time, it has sold over 2 million copies, and it was voted Best Overall Arcade Game in 2009 by Xbox 360 players. The physics are great, the levels are lovingly crafted, and the replay value is enormous. Saying that Trials is a motorcycle trick game isn’t exactly disingenuous, but it’s not telling the complete story either. READ MORE
