BioWare did a great job supporting Mass Effect 2 after launch, and some of the best missions in the game were available after launch. There wasn’t much wrong with Overlord or Lair of the Shadow Broker, and ME3’s Leviathan combines the two in terms of atmosphere and narrative and improves on them both. READ MORE

When I was a kid, my little brother and I would spend hours building things out of Lego blocks, destroying those things, and then building other things. I built mostly space ships and he stuck to things like firetrucks and ambulances. It’s still an “I know this will never happen” dream of mine to be one of the guys at Lego who creates new sets. Loving Lego as I do, you’d think that my favorite game would be something like Minecraft. You’d be wrong though, my favorite is far less popular: Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. I know it’s current (as is the rest of my list), but I can’t honestly think of a game that better encapsulates what I consider to be pure, unadulterated fun. READ MORE

Video games are a powerful bonding tool, yes. Games are a great excuse for a social gathering, great for keeping in touch with your friends, great for reminiscing about the good ol’ days. Remember when you were a kid and you played that game for days?

Well, what about when you actually are a kid. What do they mean? Hours and hours of entertainment, yes. Blowing up things and killing people in a relatively consequence free, fictional universe? Yes, but take note. All the stuff we like about video games — being a more attractive, clever superhuman who happens to be either way more social, way more fit, sexy, ruthless and adept at creating and destroying worlds — is significantly cooler when you’re a kid.
