When designing a “god game,” it is very important to make the player feel powerful, yet still include a game with difficulty. With Arcen Games’ Skyward Collapse, this balance is hit very well. Skyward Collapse offers some twists on the usual formula. For one, you don’t continually choose between benevolent and vengeful. You don’t have to follow the usual good-versus-evil trope. You are largely indifferent to the daily lives of your subjects, and you don’t need them to worship you. You simply want them to fight. READ MORE

Shades of Darkness, the new standalone expansion for Might & Magic Heroes VI, adds a new faction (Dungeon) and two campaigns. Still, it doesn’t really feel like there is much content here, at least not compared to its price tag. It adds a lot of hours of gameplay, but not much has changed from the first game. Ace Team has carved out a niche for itself, both as a South American developer and as a company not afraid to see an idea through to its conclusion. Zeno Clash II, the sequel to its first release, is no exception. With the industry often choosing to play it safe and follow established genres, it’s nice to play a game that isn’t scared to make those crazy ideas that pop up during brainstorming sessions become reality. The HD remake trend hasn’t really seen many releases on PC, largely because most PC games have been “HD” for far longer and many still work on current machines, allowing for a simple digital release to appease fan demand. Though not as well-known as some of the major console franchises there are quite a few PC games that are deserving of getting a re-release, especially with newer operating systems acting a bit odd when faced with old software.
