The word on the street is that Nintendo’s five month old Wii is still a rare find outside of eBay and back room dealings. However, music television network VH1 has announced that it plans to give away one of the consoles to a lucky winner, along with a very healthy cache of 10,000 Wii Points for online shopping. And heck, they are even throwing in a Nintendo t-shirt and cap, too.
To enter, register on VH1’s forums and leave a comment telling your favorite anecdote about playing old school 80s games and how those sorts of games shaped your life. You have to write between 40 and 100 words or you’ll be disqualified. Make it funny, weird, sad, whatever. But definitely make it old school. My tale would probably be about staying up for 32 hours playing Phantasy Star, or how I would scrawl NES passwords on the outside of my Trapper Keeper – a practice that had me confronted by a pair of teachers concerned that they were Satanic scribblings. Joy!
Start thinking today. The contest ends on Friday, March 30. Winners will be announced next Monday morning.
There isn’t much to speak of on the Wii’s Virtual Console this week, with only one game debuting over the download service. Nintendo has announced that Koei’s Super Nintendo strategy epic Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire is now available for 800 Wii Points ($8). Supporting up to 8 players, this fourth game in the series has players taking the roles of a ruler seeking to unite China in the era of the three kingdoms of Wei, Wu and Shu.
Infectious, yet terrible Korean pop? A live action recreation of the only memorable sequence in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children? This is too good to pass up. Thanks PA forums for your never ending ability to dig up random crap to keep us entertained.
Okay, I’m just about to put the unfortunate accident that is EA’s Burnout: Dominator behind me, which will free up the weekend for NIS America’s Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm, which just showed up on the porch.
I gotta say, this has been a series for which I’ve grown rather fond, as Gust and NIS’s particular sense of humor and characterization has turned out to to fall alongside my own taste’s quite nicely. Though having played through Ar Tonelico I’m not sure if I should be ashamed or afraid at this personal revelation of mine. Anyway, I guess the point of all of this is that this game is what is going to be occupying my weekend. What about yours?
