Mature gamers looking for a shooter really have just one option in the launch window: Capcom’s Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. Which we’re sure will work out well for them.
Not so much for gamers, though. Instead of the full-featured games we’ll see later, The Mercenaries is a simple time-based zombie-killing arena that sacrifices all depth and scale for getting something small right. If you like Resident Evil, you may still like it, but know you’re getting a scaled-down experience that’s a lot less survival-horror and a lot more bloody-action.
What is here, though, looks nice. The lighting effects are cool, and each character has his or her own styles of shooting and fighting.
