Def Jam and Paper Mario 2

November 1, 2004

Aside from experiencing new joys of parenthood this weekend I did get some gaming time in. First I want to talk about Def Jam Fight for New York. It has been a good while since I was quite so frustrated with a game. The setting and the feel of the game makes me want to play it like a street brawl fighting game and if you approach it from that perspective you will hate it. After about 2 hours I am just getting back into wrestling mode and am starting to lower my level of hatred for the game. When I first started playing I couldn’t stand the game. I felt like no matter what I did I was getting my butt whipped. Things are changing and I handed Ice-T his teeth. More on that when the review hits.

Paper Mario 2 is yet another fantastic game from Nintendo. The GC library has really been getting some solid releases lately and this is no excpetion. I am only a short while into the game and while I still don’t favor the turn based strategy over real time action, I am enjoying it. I think I am getting to the point where turn based combat doesn’t annoy me as long as I am fond of the characters. At any rate, that review will be up this week.
