I trust everyone had a good and safe holiday. I also hope you got a good chunk of what you wanted. I know better than to say “all of what you wanted” because most of you have wish lists that rival the inventory list of a local gamestore. At any rate, I have 2 completely off topic things to talk about this morning.
For starters, our very own Wampa proposed to his girlfriend on Christmas morning. Mega-congrats to them and the new journey they are about to embark upon.
This second bit is a little on the strange side. Have you ever seen the Wildest Police Chase shows on tv? Do you ever wonder where those take place? Apparently they take place on IH-10 at about 10pm between here and Houston.
Sunday morning we went to Houston to visit some family and we left there about 7:20pm last night to head home. On our way up there we saw a good dozen or so State Troopers either waiting or in the process of writing tickets. A few hours into our return trip we saw a Sheriff whip across the median with his lights on almost hitting a car only to pull off onto the shoulder and stop as if he was waiting for someone. I checked my rearview mirror and saw 4-5 cops with lights on in both lanes behind us. I wasn’t sure what was going on so I slowed down and then I noticed a non-police car coming up in our lane very very fast. I pulled over as he sped by. At this point there were between 10 and 15 law enforment vehicles going well over 90 miles an hour chasing this guy. He decided it would be a good idea to create his own exit off the highway through a field as one crazy Trooper follows. Moments later several other police cars come zooming by and as we get back on the road and start driving again you can see them off in the distance at a stand still. I have yet to find the story on any of the local news sites but it was still kind of thrilling. At any rate, look for a burnt orange Honda Element in the Wildest Police Chase shows in a few years and it will probably be us.
