The Sony PSX has put up some absolutely dismal sales figures since it was first launched in Japan. Instead of killing it off like most companies would, Sony decides to release not just a 2nd revision of the device but now a 3rd. They have shifted the focus of the device from game machine to media center device. I still think the PSX was a great concept but poorly executed when you consider the price for the device.
