TOP STORY: Vita 3G data plans unveiled
The biggest question Sony left lingering in the minds of the gaming public has finally been answered. Two plans will be available: $15 for a 250MB-per-month plan, and $25 for a 2GB option. While these prices are pretty much standard for any AT&T data plan, AT&T, the exclusive carrier for the Vita, says that no contracts will be required for them. As such, gamers can cancel them at any time and renew them again whenever they want to.
Starhawk multiplayer beta dates set
Sony has revealed the start dates for the Starhawk multiplayer beta, and just in time. The first wave begins on Tuesday, January 17th for PlayStation Plus members and members of the previous beta tests. On January 31st, those who bought Uncharted 3 new will be able to join in, followed by a completely open beta for all PSN members on February 21st.
Silent Hill invading March
It’s not often you get two games from the same series in a single month, much less four. But that’s exactly will happen in March. Silent Hill HD Collection, containing Silent Hill 2 and 3, will be released on March 6, with Silent Hill: Downpour following on March 13, each will be coming out on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The final title? Vita title Silent Hill: Book of Memories hits stores March 27.
Armored Core V also arriving in March
For those who aren’t interested in Silent Hill, the new Armored Core will finally be arriving on March 20 on the Xbox 360 and PS3. As opposed to previous entries in the series, the mechs in this one are smaller in an effort to change the focus of the team-based multiplayer to a more tactical style of combat.
EA doing a crossover promotion for Mass Effect 3 and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
In an effort to promote Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, EA is doing another cross-game promotion. This time around, by playing and beating the Reckoning demo (launching on Tuesday, January 17th), players will gain access to a unique weapon and armor for Mass Effect 3. Conversely, by partaking in and completing the Mass Effect 3 demo, players will gain access to a unique weapon and suit of armor for Reckoning. The Amalur demo will consist of character creation, a tutorial section and 45 minutes to explore a portion of the game world. Three Kingdom of Amalur items will also be unlocked for the full title by finishing the tutorial segment.
