Injustice is exciting; it’s one of those games that a lot of people are hyped up for, but also one they weren’t sure they wanted or thought would even happen before it did. One would think that after the historic tragedy of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, DC Comics would have been spooked and snatched away its license before you could say, “get over here!” Nevertheless, here it is! It’s a thing, you can buy it, and even play it. Here’s the kicker: it’s actually pretty good! Unfortunately, this is a NetherRealm game, and it’s still running on the usual Mortal Kombat framework. Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory is strange; there’s no getting around that. It’s a game that takes place in a world called Gamindustri where there are goddesses that correlate to each of the big three current video game consoles, and these goddesses look and act like anime teenagers. That’s usually a downside for me, but Victory admits its decision was a conscious one, owns it, and is able to use the visual style in concert with the writing to deliver some genuine laughs. After a long wait, the third game from the Operation Rainfall fan campaign has been released in North America, thanks to XSEED Games. Pandora’s Tower, easily the strangest of the three titles, was considered by many to be the unessential game of the group. The HD remake trend hasn’t really seen many releases on PC, largely because most PC games have been “HD” for far longer and many still work on current machines, allowing for a simple digital release to appease fan demand. Though not as well-known as some of the major console franchises there are quite a few PC games that are deserving of getting a re-release, especially with newer operating systems acting a bit odd when faced with old software.
